Clean Glasses!  (Read Psalm 19:7-14)

"Brad, please take the dishes out of the dishwasher and put them away," said Mother one afternoon. "And would you be sure to check the glasses? I've noticed water spots on them lately. If you hold them up to the light, you'll be able to see if they're clean or spotted."

Brad carefully checked each glass by holding it up to the light coming in the window. As Mother had mentioned, there were spotted ones. "What shall I do with these?" asked Brad.

"If there are spots, just leave them in the dishwasher, and I'll wash them over again." replied Mother.

Brad finished his work and was closing the dishwasher when Dad came into the kitchen. "Hold it, Son," said Dad. "Put the rest of those glasses away before you quit!"

Brad grinned as he pulled a spotted glass from the dishwasher. "You're sure I should put these away?" he asked as he held the glass up to the light.

Dad grinned back. "Hmmm," he murmured as he put down his Saturday morning paper. "Son, you just made a good illustration about something."

"What's that, Dad?" ask Brad.

"If we're not sure if a glass is clean or dirty, we hold it up to the light to find out," replied Dad. "And if we aren't sure whether something we want to do is right or wrong-if it's 'clean' or 'spotted'-we should hold it up to the light of God's Word. We should see if there are principles there to help us make the right decision. If it looks good when God's truth shines on it, then we may believe it is good." C.G.

How about you? - Are there any activities you do that have "spots"? Anytime you do that
when held against the light of God's Word is shown to be wrong? You can know what is right
and clean by reading your Bible.

Key:  Check Activities with God's Word

Memorize: "How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word." Psalm 119:9
