LET GOD DO IT HIS WAY
| Too often we miss out on what God wants to do for us because He doesn't do it the way we think He should. We get an idea in our mind about how He could heal us, for instance. We think He might send some famous preacher to pray for us or that maybe He will knock us off our feet with a blast of His power. When He doesn't, we lose faith and foul up what He had actually planned to do. |
"As you go, preach this message: 'The kingdom of heaven is near.' Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give." Matthew 10:7-8
|
That's what Naaman did. Naaman went to Elisha expecting to be
Healed in a certain way..and
what Elisha told him to do was simple: "Wash yourself seven times in the
Jordan." But Naaman
didn't think his healing should come that way. He thought Elisha should heal him
by waving
his hand and praying of God.
Naaman stormed away angrily, and he wouldn't have been healed if
one of his servants
hadn't
talked him into giving Elisha's instructions a try.
I used to be like that. I wanted spectacular experiences so much
that I was missing out
on the
adventures God had for me. Once I realized that, I quit looking for feelings and
dramatic
displays and just began expecting God to keep His Word.
I remember I went to a meeting one night with my ankle messed up
terribly. The pain
was so sharp that it went from my foot all the way up to my shoulders. But I was
expecting
God to heal me.
During the praise time, I just worshipped God and ignored the
pain in my foot. When the
preaching started, I opened my Bible and listened intently. Sure enough, the
next thing I
knew, I was healed. The funny thing is that I don't know when it happened. I
didn't feel
anything. I didn't see any fireworks. It wasn't until I got about halfway to the
door after
the service and realized, Glory to God, my foot's healed.
Don't let your own ideas about how God works rob you of healing,
prosperity or
even hearing God's voice. Just trust Him and let Him do things His way!
