| Don't look at the Storm |
| If
there's any way Satan can get
your eyes away from God's promises to you, he'll do it. He'll cause
trouble. He'll try to get you in a relationship with someone who doesn't
serve the Lord. Satan will do anything he can to get your eyes off God's
promises, Because he knows that if he doesn't, you'll take those promises
and beat his brains out with them.
That's what he did to Peter, Read the story in Matthew 14:22-32. What happened when Peter |
"But
when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out,
"lord, save me!" Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and
caught him. "You of little faith,' he said, 'why did you doubt?" Matthew 14:30,31
|
first jumped out of the boat after Jesus said, "Come!"? He walked right across the water without a problem. His faith was rock solid on the word Jesus had spoken to him.
But when he took his eyes off that word, he started looking at the storm. He started looking at the impossible thing he was doing. After all, he was a fisherman. All his training and experience told him when the waves were that high, you were going under. He started to focus on the circumstances instead of what Jesus said. When he did that, his faith slipped out of gear and he started to sink.
Don't let that happen to you. Once you get a promise from the Bible, hang on to it. Don't focus on anything else.
Satan will do everything he can to get you to let go of it. He'll stir up trouble around you. But don't let go of God's promises. Keep your eyes on God's Word until it's more real inside you than anything else. If you do, you'll be able to walk across the water just fine.
