DON'T BE ROCKY
GROUND
"Others, like seed sown on rocky places, hear the word and at once receive
it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When
trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away."
{Mark 4:16-17}

There seem to be a whole lot of 'rocky' Christians these days. Initially, they get excited about the Bible. They'll hear someone talk about prayer, for instance, and they'll go home saying, "Yes! God will answer all my prayers!" but then, somehow, things don't work out like they thought.
Their friends don't all become Christians overnight. They go through some disappointments. Classmates make fun of them. Then, before you know it their faith has faded away.
If you don't want that to happen to you, make up your mind right now that you won't let the rough times defeat you. Decide now that you will hang on to God's Word even when hard days and criticism come-because, I guarantee you, they will come.
When you decide to live a life of faith, you don't get rid of trouble. You learn to overcome it. You'll have problems, but the difference is now you have the answer-God's Word.
So thank God that through Jesus you have the power to defeat Satan. When he brings problems and disappointments your way, you don't have to surrender and let them run you down. Just keep standing in faith until you win.
If you get knocked down, get back up and say, "Look here, Satan. God's Word is in my heart and I say what it says. I'll believe it and act on it until God's promises show up all around me. If you don't believe me, just hide and watch!"
If you'll take that attitude, no matter what Satan does, he'll never make a "rocky" Christian out of you!
